Enforcers Add First Female Goaltender to Roster

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Enforcers are proud to announce the first signing of a female player to the active roster in Hannah Cochran. She becomes the first female player in the Federal Hockey League since Kira Hurley suited up for two different teams in the 2012-13 season.

Cochran plays at the First Arena rec rink in an adult league and has been a goalie for over six years. When asked about what got her into hockey she said, “My brothers and sisters played and we needed two goalies; my brother was one, so I decided to be the other.” She has stuck with that role, and is the only one in her family who still plays consistently. Cochran regularly attends Enforcers games and is looking forward to being a part of the team this weekend. “When I started I didn’t know if I would be any good at it, and to have an opportunity to play for my hometown team this weekend is truly special.”

When not minding the net, Cochran is a therapist at Sayre Health Care Center. She will be putting on a clinic before Saturday's game for girls who are interested in the sport from 3:00-4:00 PM at First Arena. When asked about her advice for girls trying to enter the sport she said, “Keep trying. Just keep working at it; you never know when your opportunity will come.”

The Enforcers begin their last full month of play in the regular season with a three-game weekend series against the Danville Dashers on Friday, March 1st. Cochran will be dressing on Saturday for Girl Scout Night with a 7:05 PM start. Tickets are available at the box office, through Tickets.com, or by calling (607) 734-PUCK (7825).

The Elmira Enforcers are in their inaugural season and proud members of the Federal Hockey League. Ticket packages and sponsorship packages for Elmira's first season of FHL hockey are available now by contacting First Arena directly at (607) 734-PUCK (7825).
