PLAYER SAFETY ANNOUNCES FINES & SUSPENSIONS FOR 11/4/23

From The FPHL Department of Player Safety

Binghamton, NY – The FPHL Department of Player Safety today have announced the following fines and suspension.

Danbury Hat Tricks Amesbury, SUSPENDED
Danbury forward Daniel Amesbury has been suspended for One game as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 31 in Danbury, CT on Saturday, November 4th.  FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, “This incident involves Mr. Amesbury punching an unwilling combattant who is bent over and making no attempt to engage in fisticuffs. This is not considered a fight but an attempt by one player to inflict punishment. This is Mr. Amesbury's 2nd Aggressor penalty this season and as such, is considered a repeat offender. He will be suspended for TWO (2) GAMES.  There was a 3rd man-in penalty called which was the correct application but there will be no supplemental discipline as the player entered the altercation as a peacekeeper."

Binhamton Black Bears Sherwood, FINED
Binghamton Head Coach Brant Sherwood has been fined an undisclosed amount as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 31 in Danbury, CT on Saturday, November 4th.  FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, "Mr. Sherwood received a Game Misconduct for verbal abuse towards the officials midway through the 3rd period. Although there will be many times that the coach and officials will disagree, it's imperative that the dialogue between them remain respectful. The league cannot and will not tolerate certain types of phrases and or slurs that are generally offensive and demeaning."

Danbury Hat Tricks McCreary, FINED
Danbury Head Coach Bill McCreary has been fined an undisclosed amount as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 31 in Danbury, CT on Saturday, November 4th.  FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, "Mr. McCreary was assessed a Game misconduct at the completion of the game for verbal abuse directed at the officials. He was visibly displeased with something that had transpired during the game. This type of displeasure is better handled through the proper league channels where questions can be asked and answered and an explanation can be given. The officials really have no recourse to punish a team when this behavior happens after the game ends and we cannot simply tolerate abuse because the buzzer has sounded. Post-game verbal abuse is cumulative and fines will increase for future incidents."

The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 14th season during 2023-24.
