PLAYER SAFETY ANNOUNCES FINES & SUSPENSIONS FOR 2/10/24
From The FPHL Department of Player Safety
Binghamton, NY – The FPHL Department of Player Safety today have announced the following fines and suspension.
Binhamton Black Bears Sherwood, FINED
Binghamton Head Coach Brant Sherwood has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 187 in Fraser, MI on Saturday, February 10th. FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, "The officials report on the verbal abuse directed at them by Mr. Sherwood is problematic and in my opinion, excessive. This situation did not require Mr. Sherwood to escalate hostilities to the level that he did. He was ultimately removed from the building. This is Mr. Sherwood's third offense this season for abuse and conduct that is detrimental to the league. Mr. Sherwood is suspended for ONE (1) GAME and fined."
Watertown Wolves Seaman, SUSPENDED
Watertown forward Dakota Seaman has been suspended for 7 games as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 188 in Port Huron, MI on Saturday, February 10th. FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, "The FPHL has received clear and conclusive video of Mr. Seaman's deliberate act. This was in no way an acceptable action. He intentionally and deliberately targeted his opponent's knees and injured him in the process. This is no longer an attempt to injure but a Match penalty for deliberate injury. This deserves a Four game suspension for a first offense and any prior offenses also factor in. Mr. Seaman has already this season been suspended twice for attempt to injure, (2 and 3 gms.) meaning we start at Three games but instead of increasing by 50% we add the standard FOUR (4) Games for a Match Penalty with injury and the result is a SEVEN (7) GAME SUSPENSION.."
The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 14th season during 2023-24.
