PLAYER SAFETY ANNOUNCES FINES & SUSPENSIONS FOR 3/22/24

From The FPHL Department of Player Safety

Binghamton, NY – The FPHL Department of Player Safety today have announced the following suspensions.

Blue Ridge Bobcats Zemlicka, FINED
Wytheville Head Coach Vojtech Zemlick has been Fined an undisclosed amount as a result from his unsportsmanlike actions during FPHL Game No. 261 in Winston-Salem, NC on Friday, March 22nd.

Binghamton Black Bears Walters, SUSPENDED
Binghamton defenseman Jacob Walters has been suspended for One Game as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 259 in Binghamton, NY on Friday, March 22nd.  FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated,
“This is pretty straightforward. Mr. Walters grabs an opponent who clearly has no desire to fight and delivers multiple punches. Had it not been for the official's intervention, it could have been much worse. Mr. Walters is suspended for ONE (1) GAME for aggressor."

Watertown forward Wolves Tate Leeson was assessed a match penalty for slew footing in the same contest.  FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, This does not rise to the level of a match penalty. It is not a slew foot, there was no contact or shove on the upper body. It can be classified as either a trip or interference. Mr. Leeson's team had to kill a 5 minute power play and he was lost for over 2/3 of the game. The punishment served is sufficient and there will be no further discipline.

The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 14th season during 2023-24.
