Watertown's Special Teams Defeat Port Huron
By DJ Palm
Port Huron, MI - The Port Huron Prowlers dropped a heartbreaker to the Watertown Wolves on Friday night. Former Prowler Chris Leveille scored the game winning goal late in the third period, widening the gap to 12 points for the Prowlers in the standings.
The Prowlers got on the scoreboard first with a nifty move from Matyas Kasek that ended up sniping over Cody Porter's shoulder for a 1-0 lead. With less than two minutes left in the frame, Watertown would get even with a goal scored by Sam Williams.
The middle frame is where most of the scoring happened. Port Huron would come out firing, 18 seconds into the second. Matt Graham put the Prowlers ahead, followed by a Dalton Jay goal scored on a Paul Arnott faceoff win to put the Prowlers up two goals. Jay's goal would be quickly answered by the FHL's leading scorer Tyler Gjurich, followed up with a power play goal scored by Chris Leveille. The two teams would head into the second intermission tied at 3.
Third period would remain scoreless until a shorthanded breakaway goal by Chris Leveille sealed the deal for Watertown at 17:19.
The Prowlers' power play failed all night, going 0-6. Cody Porter made 53 saves on 56 shots in the victory. Tyler Gjurich and Chris Leveille netted three points each, while Gavin Yates had two assists.
These two teams will square off again on Saturday night at McMorran with a 7 PM puck drop.
