Aaron Atwell Returns to Danville

Danville, IL - The Danville Dashers are proud to welcome back defenseman Aaron Atwell. Atwell played in 30 games last season for the Dashers, tallying 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points.

Aaron has played in the FHL for four seasons, with four different teams (Watertown, Danbury, Port Huron, and Danville). Throughout his career, he has amassed 13 goals, 45 assists, and 85 points in 137 games. “It could possibly be a blessing” said Atwell when asked what it means to return to Danville. “I’ve never returned to a former team in the start of the season before, so it’s nice to be coming back somewhere familiar.” In 2015, he won the Commissioner's Cup with the Watertown Wolves. That year saw his career bests, with 3 goals and 17 assists for 20 points.

Atwell had this to say when asked what his goals were for the team and personally this season. “I’m a winner. Doesn’t matter what it is or where I am. My personal goal and team goal are the same -- Winning. Aside from that, I always want to play well and move up. But with winning, good things will follow.”

Atwell looks to bring his physical yet finesse style of play to the team this season. When asked what he worked on in the offseason to get himself prepared for the season he told us, “I’m coming into this season a bit lighter and in better shape. I’ll be able to eat more minutes and carry more than my own load throughout the season.”

When asked what makes Danville a special place to play he had this to say, “Danville is the hockey hotbed of the FHL because of our fans.”
