BUILT WITH PURPOSE: FedNext Sets the Foundation for the FPHL’s Next Generation

Leaguewide collaboration behind the 2026-27 season creates stronger systems, consistent standards, clearer communication and a platform designed for continued growth

BINGHAMTON, NY – The foundation is in place. The next generation of the Federal Prospects Hockey League is underway.

Over the past week and a half, we have taken fans step by step through the structure of the 2026-27 season.

We revealed the home-opening dates and first matchups. We introduced two conferences and four divisions, adopted a new 2-1-0 standings system, expanded the postseason to 12 qualifying teams and released the complete 476-game regular-season schedule.

The response from fans across the league has been overwhelmingly positive.

But the larger story is not any single announcement. It is how those decisions were built together, what it took to get them right and what that work now makes possible for the future of the FPHL.

That is the purpose of FedNext.

One Connected Plan
We did not treat alignment, scheduling, standings and playoff qualification as separate decisions.

They were developed as one connected competitive and operating platform for an expanded 17-team league with a coast-to-coast footprint.

The past several months brought an unprecedented level of collaboration across the FPHL. Our Board of Governors, teams, working groups and League Office examined geography, arena availability, travel, competition, team operations and the fan experience together.

That process required practical compromise.

Not every team received every scheduling preference, and not every market received every opponent it requested. However, every organization had a voice, and the final schedule provides more opponent variety than recent seasons while accounting for the realities of our expanded geography.

As our western footprint becomes more established and we build upon this season’s travel experience, arena coordination and team feedback, we expect future schedules to become even stronger.

The 2026-27 season is an important step forward. It is also the starting point for what comes next.

Growing with Discipline
A coast-to-coast league creates exciting opportunities, but it also creates real travel and operational considerations.

We addressed those challenges directly.

Long-distance games were concentrated among selected travel partners and grouped into multi-game series or broader regional windows wherever practical. Not every non-California team is traveling west, and our California teams will also carry significant outbound travel responsibilities.

Arena availability, commercial air access, rivalry value, team preferences, market needs and leaguewide fairness were all considered during the process.

The objective was not to pretend that national expansion comes without added complexity. It was to plan for that complexity responsibly and create a schedule that works for the league as a whole.

That same principle will guide future growth: expand with purpose, evaluate the operational impact and build the systems needed to support that next step.

FedNext: Building the League Behind the League
FedNext is our long-term platform for strengthening how the FPHL operates, supports its teams, administers league standards and communicates with its fans.

One of the first major initiatives is the implementation of a new League Management System that will provide a cleaner and more centralized foundation for league information and processes.

The new system is being designed to:

Improve the accuracy and consistency of league information
Create clearer workflows and approval processes
Strengthen recordkeeping and accountability
Reduce disconnected manual work and unnecessary duplication
Provide a foundation for new tools and capabilities for our teams

The platform will develop in phases, with additional functionality introduced over time.

Fans may not see every internal improvement immediately, but they should increasingly see the results through more timely information, clearer communication, more reliable records and a more consistent experience across league channels.

Our goal is straightforward: make the FPHL easier to operate, easier for our teams to work within and easier for our fans to follow with better league communication.

Clear Standards. Fair and Consistent Enforcement.
Modern systems must be supported by clear standards and consistent enforcement.

As part of FedNext, we have launched a new Integrity and Compliance framework, beginning with salary-cap compliance.

The program establishes clearer compensation and disclosure requirements, a standardized process for reviewing credible concerns and an independent reporting channel for suspected violations.

The purpose is not to trap teams or players over technical mistakes. It is to provide clear expectations, deter intentional circumvention and ensure that established teams, expansion teams, large markets and smaller markets are held to the same standards.

Teams should continue to recruit aggressively and build competitive rosters. They must also do so within a common framework that is administered firmly, fairly and consistently.

Salary-cap compliance is the first major focus. Over time, the Integrity and Compliance framework will expand into other areas where clearer standards, better reporting and consistent oversight can strengthen the league.

Better systems and better enforcement are part of the same commitment: earning trust through accountability, consistency and fair processes.

The Work Continues
Today’s announcement closes our initial 2026-27 season-launch series, but the work behind FedNext is only beginning.

Implementation of the League Management System will continue. Our Integrity and Compliance framework will develop. Additional tools and initiatives will be introduced as they are ready.

Some improvements will happen behind the scenes. Others will become increasingly visible to our teams, players and fans.

The 2026-27 season begins October 9.
