Dashers Hire Marcus Grasenick as Director of Communications

Danville, IL - The Danville Dashers are proud to announce the hiring of Marcus Grasenick as the team’s new Director of Communications, effective September 2nd, 2018. Grasenick will be responsible for the play-by-play of all Dashers’ games, hosting the weekly recap shows, sponsorship sales, media relations, team social media, and other administrative tasks.

Dashers General Manager Diane Short had this to say: “We are very pleased to have Marcus joining the Dashers organization. We feel that his broadcasting experience and drive will take us to the next level. Marcus is a go-getter with fresh ideas and will be a real asset to the office. With Marcus on board we will be able to achieve so much more during our broadcast and have more to offer the interns. He and I have discussed a few new media opportunities and I’m excited to see it all unfold.”

Grasenick, 27, comes to Danville after spending the last seven seasons as the Director of Broadcasting and Play-By-Play Announcer for the Northern Illinois University Men’s D2 Hockey Club (ACHA). “I will be forever grateful for the opportunity that NIU gave me while in school and the years since graduation. It has given me an unbelievable platform to hone my skills and abilities to make it to the next level” Grasenick said. “Once a Huskie, always a Huskie”

Grasenick is an alum of the College of Lake County where he graduated with an Associates in Communications in 2012, as well as the Illinois Media School, where he graduated with a degree in Sports Broadcasting in 2013. He served as the ACHA Division 3 Director of Broadcasting in 2016, and was part of the last three ACHA Division 3 National Tournaments broadcasts.

Grasenick has a long history of being involved with the game of hockey. While in college Marcus hosted two hockey-based talk shows “Chicago Hockey Connection” and “Two Pad Stack Radio”. “Hockey has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, whether that is going to Blackhawks games, playing, coaching, and now broadcasting” Marcus said. “My hope is that while the fans are listening to the broadcast they can hear and feel my passion for the game”
