Dashers Ink Deal with WPGU 107.1

Danville, IL - The Danville Dashers are proud to announce a partnership with 107.1 WPGU FM. The agreement will have the station broadcast 38 of the teams 56 games during the 2018-2019 season.

The Dashers will provide training to University of Illinois communication students in broadcasting. “This is a great opportunity for the Dashers to get the team more exposure in a bigger market like Champaign.” said Director of Communications Marcus Grasenick. “Being able to give students an opportunity to help and work with a pro hockey team, will give them great experience moving forward in their careers.”

107.1 FM WPGU is a student run radio station on the campus of the University of Illinois, and is also home of the University’s ACHA Division 1 Hockey team. “WPGU is excited to be the exclusive broadcaster of Danville Dashers hockey games in the Champaign-Urbana market!" Said Nicholas Kourtis, Program Director of 107.1 FM WPGU. "This gives more opportunities for sports fans to get even more hockey on our station. They can listen to all the Illini Hockey home-game broadcasts and now, all other weekends listen to Danville Dashers games. We are excited for this new partnership and wish the best of luck to the team this season!”

The team will begin its 2018-2019 campaign on October 26th as they welcome the Elmira Enforcers. Both games opening weekend will be on 107.1 WPGU. You can listen live online at  www.wpgu.com. All games will also be streaming on the FHL Broadcast Network.
