Dashers Score 5 Unanswered to Beat Prowlers

By DJ Palm

Port Huron, MI - The first of a three-game road series for the Danville Dashers turned out to be favorable one, as they earned 3 points in overcoming a 3-0 deficit to start and defeat the Port Huron Prowlers, 5-3.

The Prowlers opened the game with three straight goals in the first seven minutes, with Dalton Jay assisting on all three, while Marvin Powell, Matt Graham, and Matt Robertson netted the goals. It was then that Danville began their valiant comeback. Brandon Contratto and Fred Hein scored to stop the bleeding for a one-goal deficit going into the intermission.

From that point on, Matt Kaludis was a brick wall and saved all 29 Port Huron attempts at a goal in the second and third periods. Danville's Levi Armstrong had the lone goal in the second period, while Fred Hein completed a hat trick with two goals in the third. Hein would get a go-ahead goal just 18 seconds into the frame, and then score an empty netter with five seconds left.

With the win, Danville is now 8 points behind Port Huron for the final playoffs spot in the FHL.

These two teams square off again tomorrow night at McMorran Arena. Puck drops at 7:35 PM.
