FORD NAMED FPHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR DECEMBER
Binghamton, NY – The Federal Prospect Hockey League announced today that Carolina Thunderbirds forward Kalib (Gus) Ford has been named the Player of the Month for December.
Ford played in 12 games and accumulated 9 goals and 13 assists for 22 points for the month. During the month Ford moved from 9th place to second in league scoring. He had two games where he recorded 4 points. Gus had his first 4 points game on December 9th against the Binghamton Black Bears when he had a goal and 3 assists before the home crowd. His other 4 points game occurred on New Year’s Eve before his home fans when he had a hat trick along with an assist to close out the 2023 year.
The 28- year-old is from Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada and is in his third year with the Thunderbirds. Gus attended Northland College (NCAA D3) from 2016-20. He was named to the All-Rookie Team while at Northland. During the 2021-22 season he led the Thunderbirds Single Season Goals with (43) and Assists (41) for 88 points. Gus came back with his most outstanding season last year when he set the Thunderbirds record for goals (46) and assists (68) and points (114). Ford was awarded the 2022-23 FPHL MVP for leading the league in scoring.
