FORD NAMED FPHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR FEBRUARY
Binghamton, NY – The Federal Prospect Hockey League announced today that Carolina Thunderbirds forward Kalib (Gus) Ford has been named the Player of the Month for February.
Ford played 9 games for the Thunderbirds during the month and recorded 7 goals with 17 assists for 24 points and moved up from 9th to third in league scoring. Gus had 7 multi-point games with his better games being February 14th against the Mississippi Sea Wolves where he had 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points. Gus’ best games were during the weekend of February 21 & 22nd against the Dashers of Danville. In the first game he had his best game of the season accumulating 6 points (1 G, 5 A). He followed up the next night with another 4 point game (2 G, 2 A), for a 10 point weekend.
The 29- year-old is from Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada is spending his fourth season with the Thunderbirds. In his previous 3 years with the Thunderbirds he has scored at least 40 or more goals, with his best of 46 during the 2022-23 season when he was named FPHL MVP League Leading Scorer. He attended Northland College (WIAC) from 2016-20. Gus was named to the All-Rookie team (2016-17).
The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 15th season during 2024-25.
