“HUGE signing news brings early Christmas to Wolves nation”

The Watertown Wolves want to wish all of our great fans and supporters a very Merry Christmas, and wanted to do so by delivering a HUGE early Christmas present! We are thrilled to announce that Justin MacDonald has decided to join us for this upcoming season!

Justin has an incredible resume, with 176 games in the ECHL and just as many in the SPHL, as well as having played internationally at a high level. Justin previously had a spell in Watertown during the 2012/13 and again in 2014/15 seasons, during which he posted a remarkable 102 points in 46 games.

“We are so pleased that “J-Mac” has decided to come to Watertown to play this season - adding a player like him to an already incredibly strong roster will further help putting us in a position to attain our goal of winning the championship this winter. We always said we were very happy with where we are at player-wise, and any additions would need to be true difference-makers and elite level players, and Justin fits that description very well.

We are looking to firm up the roster as we finally are nearing the start of the season, and our guys are obviously ready to go - we may still have a couple of more surprises coming up as far as signings, but we are already in a great position to be very successful this season”, said Andreas Johansson.

Justin commented on his return to Watertown: “I’m really happy to be coming up to the Wolves and play this season - coach Clarke, ownership, and myself have had some great conversations, and I know expectations are very high, which is exactly the kind of atmosphere that I love to see. After seeing the strong team that they are building, as well as word getting around about all the positive changes happening in Watertown, I can’t wait to arrive in time for the training camp, and compete for the ring at the end of the season.

Coach Brent Clarke has known Justin for over 10 years, and has nothing but positive things to say:“Justin is an elite level player, and having someone like him here at the Wolves will be an incredible experience - he will obviously help bring us closer to our goal of winning the championship, and will also be a great role model for the younger guys to look up to. I think his resume speaks for itself, and it is a once-in-a-long-while opportunity to be able to watch a player of his caliber in the FPHL. No doubt he will be a leader, both in the locker room, as well as on the scoresheet.”

The Watertown Wolves are preparing to start the season by participating in the “New York Showcase” which is a three-game series with Elmira, taking place on January 29, 30, and 31. Training camp will commence earlier that week, and the showcase is part of the team’s preparation for the upcoming season.

Regular season play will begin with a four gameseries against the Elmira Enforcers, with the first game taking place on February 4th.

We anticipate being able to release the full February schedule within the near future, and the following months schedule will be released at a later date.

Currently we are monitoring and following all state guidelines in order to safely resume play, and updates with regards to fan participation and attendance at the Watertown Municipal Arena will be provided as soon as new information becomes available. All games will be broadcast live on our YouTube channel, and we are also making a number of positive changes to the broadcasts to make it an even higher quality product.
