WATERTOWN WOLVES at PORT HURON PROWLERS
Jameson Bourque Shuts Out Wolves for First Win
By Will Wiegelman
Port Huron, MI, - Jameson Bourque picked up his first pro win after stopping all 18 shots he faced in a 3-0 Port Huron Prowlers win over the Watertown Wolves on Halloween at McMorran Place. His team got him a goal in each period.
“It’s pretty unreal,” Bourque said. “We work for this every single day. We’ve been battling since training camp and preparing for moments like these. It finally became my turn and I got to show what I got.”
In the first, Arsenii Smekhnov found Matt Graham driving the net. Graham tipped the pass home to open the scoring. That held into the final seconds of the middle period when Troy Button cut off a clearing attempt and put the puck on net where Bobby Price tipped it by Samuel Zgiet. Smekhnov deflected a Price power-play shot to make it 3-0 in the third.
Smekhnov and Price each finished with a goal and an assist.
Zgiet made 39 saves in the loss.
The Prowlers will begin November in Minnesota as they take on the Northern Lights for the first time. Puck drop on Nov. 6 is scheduled for 8 P.M. EST and the Barrett’s Pregame Show starts on the PHP Network at 7:30 P.M.

MOTOR CITY ROCKERS at INDIANA SENTINELS
Hot Start Fizzles, Sents Lose 4-1 to Rockers
By Andy Poetzinger
Columbus, IN, - Consistency has been tough to find for the Indiana Sentinels early on this season. We have seen the Sentinels get off to a very good start on the first night in Topeka. Unfortunately, we have also seen the Sentinels get off to slower starts more often than not leading them to have to play from behind.
Scoring started early in the first for the Sentinels who scored the first goal of the game for the first time all season. That was a feat they had accomplished only 16 times last season. David MacDonald held the puck in at the far blue line and tossed a shot toward the net. After getting partially blocked halfway through, the puck landed on Jason Tynan’s stick who had the presence of mind to settle down a rolling puck and roof it over the shoulder of Ricardo Gonzalez to give the Sents a 1-0 lead.
This was arguably the best start the Sentinels have had to this point. They were physical. Finishing hits in the offensive zone, stepping up at the right times in the defensive zone creating some massive collisions. They were fast, and winning battles all across the ice. Their passing was much crisper than last night. Tape-to-tape passes in stride which made breakouts a whole lot smoother.
The second period was a different story. The Sentinels were unable to get back to that fast paced, physical style from the first period which led to a handful of penalties called against them.
The Sentinels were able to fend off the Rockers until the 8:40 mark of the period. On a 5-on-3 penalty kill, a blocked pass deflected right to TJ Sneath who swatted home his fifth goal of the year to tie the game at one.
Just two and a half minutes later, former Sentinel Jhuwon Davis cleaned up a rebound in the slot and potted his fourth of the year and just like that the Rockers had the lead. The Sentinels were outshot in that period eleven to seven.
Indiana had a chance to start getting momentum back with a powerplay to start the third period. Although they had good puck movement and generated quality chances, they could not find a way to beat Gonzalez.
The Sentinels’ best chance came with under three minutes remaining where Brady Estabrook was set up by Ben Stefanini. Estabrook had a seemingly wide-open cage, but Gonzalez dove across with a windmill stack-the-pad save to rob Estabrook of his first goal.
Motor City gave themselves some breathing room with six and a half minutes to play in the period. Clayton Hightower intercepted a pass in the neutral zone, starting a rush the other way and made a slick move around a check before going under the blocker of Will Pinney to make it 3-1.
Indiana made a late push, but an empty net goal from Grant Bondy with ten seconds remaining sealed the victory for the Rockers.
Special teams were a factor again with the Sentinels going scoreless on the powerplay in six attempts. Motor City picked up one powerplay goal on their seven chances. Final shots were in favor of Indiana 30 to 17.
Next weekend, the Sents head back on the road to take on the Watertown Wolves for the first time this season. We’ll have every moment for you on the Sentinels Hockey Network. Coverage starts with the Body Armor Pre-Game Show at 6:50 pm ET, and puck drop at 7:15 pm ET.
Motor City Downs First Place Indiana 4-1
By Brady Beedon
Columbus, IN, The Motor City Rockers defeated the Indiana Sentinels 4-1 on Halloween night.
After falling 2-1 the previous night. The Rockers fell behind early when Jason Tynan fired a shot from the left wing circle into the Motor City net.
After 20 minutes, the Rockers were down 1-0, and had gone over 60 minutes of hockey without a goal.
However, what had been the weakest period of the season became the strongest.
In the second period, TJ Sneath chopped in a shot on a five-on-three powerplay to even the score at one aside.
Just two and a half minutes later, Jhuwon Davis finished a scramble in front of the net to give the Rockers the lead and Davis his fourth of the season.
Both sides would head to the locker room for the final time with the advantage at 2-1 Motor City.
The first half of the third period was scoreless, until Clay Hightower fired a shot that went top corner to extend the lead.
Motor City would seal the deal when Grant Bondy flipped a shot from his own zone's circle the length of the ice into the empty net, scoring his first pro goal and setting the final to 4-1 Rockers.
In the victory, Rico Gonzalez stopped 29 of 30 shots faced to earn his second win of the year.
Motor City ends the weekend at 2-2-1 on the year, and will head out to Danbury for a pair of games against the Hat Tricks. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 with coverage on the Rockers Media Network starting at 7pm.
COLUMBUS RIVER DRAGONS at MID-SOUTH MONARCHS
Monarchs Defeated By River Dragons On Halloween
By Cole Parenti
Southaven, MS, - The Mid-South Monarchs and Columbus River Dragons returned to the ice on Halloween night for a rematch of the previous night's high-scoring affair. The Monarchs were looking to get back into the win column after dropping Friday night's game in a shootout.
The first period got off to an early start for the River Dragons, as they scored twice in the frame. The first goal came off a quick shot from Alex Storjohann, who fired one on net that beat everyone. The second came from Tyler Barrow, who doubled the lead and sent Columbus into the locker room with a 2-0 advantage.
The second period was slower, as each team seemed to be waiting for the other to make the first mistake. The only goal came from Barrow, who scored his second of the night as the River Dragons headed into the third period with a 3-0 lead.
The River Dragons would not let up in the third, scoring three more times before the final buzzer. Michael Kramer was the first to join the party, finding the back of the net to give Columbus its second 4-0 lead of the weekend. Ryan Galvin was next, finishing off a rebound in front to make it 5-0. Jestin Somero would be the last to score, finding the back of the net on a two-man advantage. Chiwetin Blacksmith would break up the shutout, but the River Dragons still secured the 6-1 victory.
Tommy Nappier and Wyatt Friedlander combined to stop 24 of the 30 shots they faced. Their opponent, Trevor Babin, was strong in net, stopping 20 of the Monarchs' 21 shots.
The Mid-South Monarchs are back in action Friday and Saturday in Topeka, Kansas, as they take on the Scarecrows. Both games will be streamed live on the Monarchs' YouTube channel.
Dragons Complete Weekend Sweep with 6-1 Rout of Monarchs
By Devin Dobek
Southaven, MS -, Coming off a tenacious victory the previous night, the Columbus River Dragons returned to the ice Saturday looking to put together a complete 60-minute effort and secure their first weekend sweep against Delta Division rival Mid-South. Behind 20 saves from Trevor Babin and an explosive offensive performance, Columbus struck for six unanswered goals to open the game before cruising to a 6-1 victory.
The opening period got off to a somewhat sluggish start, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm. Through the first half of the frame, Columbus held a narrow 2-1 advantage in shots, while five minor penalties between the two sides provided opportunities to gain an early edge on special teams. The Dragons eventually broke through at 8:54. Alex Storjohann fired a wrist shot from the top of the circles through traffic, with the puck finding its way past goaltender Thomas Nappier after a deflection off a Monarch to give Columbus a 1-0 lead.
Less than five minutes later, Tyler Barrow doubled the advantage. After winning a puck battle off an offensive-zone faceoff, Barrow worked his way into the slot and wired a shot into the top corner on the power play, putting the Dragons ahead 2-0. Columbus continued to dictate the pace as the period progressed, generating quality offensive opportunities and taking a 13-6 advantage in shots into the first intermission.
The middle frame presented a different challenge, as both teams struggled to establish consistency and maintain a clean game. Four additional minor penalties were assessed, bringing the combined power-play total to 1-for-9 through two periods. With the next goal carrying considerable importance, the Dragons once again turned to their leading offensive weapon. At 12:27, Barrow collected a stretch pass from Yevdokimov, broke in alone on a breakaway, and finished with a powerful wrist shot to extend the Columbus lead to 3-0.
Despite being outshot 10-5 in the period, the Dragons continued to benefit from a strong performance between the pipes. Trevor Babin came up with several key stops to preserve the three-goal advantage, allowing Columbus to carry a 3-0 lead into the final 20 minutes. Through 40 minutes, the Dragons held an 18-16 edge in shots.
Columbus wasted little time putting the game out of reach in the third period. Just 37 seconds into the frame, Michael Kramer pounced on a rebound off a Connor Loft shot and buried it for his first professional goal, pushing the lead to 4-0. At 7:22, Ryan Galvin followed suit, lifting home another rebound for his first goal of the season to make it 5-0.
The offensive surge continued just over four minutes later when Jestin Somero capitalized on the power play, finishing from in tight to give the Dragons a commanding 6-0 advantage. Following the goal, Mid-South made a change in net, replacing Nappier with Wyatt Friedlander.
The Monarchs would eventually find the scoresheet after being awarded a 5-on-3 power play. Despite an otherwise outstanding night from Babin, former River Dragon Chiwetin Blacksmith managed to slip a Darion Benchich pass past the Columbus netminder to break up the shutout and make it 6-1. The Dragons remained composed down the stretch, closing out the contest to secure their first weekend sweep of the season. Columbus finished with a 30-21 advantage in shots.
With the victory, the River Dragons improve to 3-3-0 on the season and wrap up their four-game road trip next weekend with a pair of matchups against the Monroe Moccasins. Both games are scheduled for 8:05 p.m. EST on Friday and Saturday.
Mid-South falls to 3-5-1 and will look to rebound next weekend when it travels to take on the undefeated Topeka Scarecrows for a two-game series, with both contests also scheduled for 8:05 p.m. EST.

BATON ROUGE KINGFISH at STOCKTON THUNDER
Stockton GOT NO TREAT FROM KINGFISH
By Steve McCall
Stockton, CA, In a night very befitting Halloween, the Baton Rouge Kingfish edged the Stockton Thunder 5-4 in overtime Saturday in Stockton.
Tyler William's shot from the right wing circle beat Stockton goalie Chad Purdy, making his first start of the season, at 3:02 of overtime giving the Kingfish (5-2-0) their third straight victory. It capped a wild back and forth night, which featured lengthy delays tending to ice matters affecting goal posts at both ends of the ice.
Damon Furuseth opened the scoring for Stockton (2-2-2) at 4:14 of the opening period. Just 14 seconds later, Ryan Constant, playing just his second game out of retirement scored his first goal for Stockton in 11 years with a wrist shot from the left point that eluded Baton Rouge goalie Ed Coffey, for an early 2-0 Thunder lead. Jason Brancheau got Baton Rouge on the board finishing off a pretty passing play from Williams at 7:03.
Then the strange happenings began. Scott Shorrock scored on a delayed penalty for Baton Rouge with 1:23 left in the period. After a lengthy delay, the officials conferred with Coffey about a problem he had with the ice in the goal he was defending. The problem appeared to be with the ice and how it was forming around the pipe keeping the goal in place. Shorrock's goal stood and after a lengthy delay working on t he ice, the officials decided to carry over the final 1:23 of the first period and have the intermission take place while ice repairs happened.
When play resumed, the teams immediately switched ends into second period formation, instead of the customary finishing the period in the original ends. In the second period, Jeff Dill, also coming out of retirement Kingfish leading scorer Jake Cox, connected on a power play for his sixth goal of the season, in the period which was also marked by several delays, tending to ice issues at the goal Coffey was defending (the opposite end of the ice from the first period).
Tied at three heading into the third period, the teams took the unusual step of switching benches for the third period, and defended the same end of the ice they had in the second. The change of benches was necessary to avoid the long change from the defensive zone. Baton Rouge took its first lead of the game when Shorrock scored his second goal of the night at the 1:33 mark. But only 14 seconds later Ilnur Madiarov knotted the game again for Stockton. Both Purdy and Coffey made several dazzling saves the remainder of the third period.
William's goal came on the first shot of overtime for Baton Rouge, after the Thunder had puck possession most of the extra session. Baton Rouge plays Friday at Fresno. Stockton is off until November 11 at Oceanside.
WILLIAMS SCORES IN OVERTIME; KINGFISH SWEEP THUNDER
By Trevor Poetenzino
Stockton, CA - Tyler Williams scored 3:02 into overtime to give the Baton Rouge Kingfish a 5-4 win tonight against the Stockton Thunder at Adventist Health Arena.
Before they could blink, the Kingfish trailed by two goals. The Thunder scored twice in 20 seconds inside the game's first five minutes, at 4:14 and 4:34, to jump ahead 2-0.
However, Baton Rouge clawed back to tie the game before the end of the first period. Jason Brancheau buried a breakaway at 7:03 and then Scott Shorrock laced a perfect, bar-down, shot to tie the game, 2-2, with 1:23 remaining in the first.
Early in the second, the Thunder reclaimed the lead on a scramble play in front of the Kingfish net. Baton Rouge responded with a powerplay goal, its first in over 20 attempts, from Jake Cox to level the score again, 3-3.
In the third period, the Kingfish took their first lead of the game 95 seconds into the final frame. However, their advantage lasted just 14 seconds, as the Thunder responded to knot the contest, 4-4. We headed to overtime.
In the three-on-three extra session, Williams grabbed the puck, charged down the right wing and snapped a gloveside wrist shot into the back of the net for the game winner.
The Kingfish have now won three consecutive games and have started their seven-game road trip 2-0-0.

WATERTOWN WOLVES at PORT HURON PROWLERS

Ed Coffey made 33 saves to earn his fifth victory of the season.
Baton Rouge heads to Fresno for a two-game series with the Falcons beginning next Friday at Selland Arena.
