JOHNSON, RECIPIENT OF 2024-25 JIM HEBERMEHL MEMORIAL AWARD

The Federal Prospects Hockey League has announced Referee Ron Johnson has been named the recipient of the 2024-25 Jim Hebermehl Memorial Award.

This award honors an on-ice official for exhibiting the best conduct and sportsmanship throughout the season.  It is in Honor of Jim Hebermehl, an off-ice official who displayed a level of sportsmanship, kindness, and compassion to all he encountered.  Jim passed away Friday January 4th, 2019.

After receiving the news Johnson stated, I’m incredibly honored to accept the Jim Hebermehl Memorial Award—it's a humbling recognition and means so much to me. Seeing how the league has grown over the years has been nothing short of amazing, and it’s been a privilege to work alongside such high-level players, coaches, and officials. I truly enjoy every moment of engaging with team owners, GMs, coaches, players, and the off-ice crews who all contribute to the game’s success. This award is a reflection of the passion and dedication shared by everyone involved in this incredible hockey community. Thank you for this honor—I'm proud to be part of the League."

FPHL Director of Officiating Paul Jene stated, “Ron has been a stand out official.  He has a great presence and reputation with the players and coaches of the league.  His professionalism & passion for the game shows every time he steps on the ice.”  Jene went on to add, “Ron has never worked a higher level but you’d think he has.  He’s one of those guys that is coachable and works well with any crew.  He sets a great example for the newer guys and keeps a big smile on his face while he works.  I’m ecstatic that we are able to recognize Ron for his professionalism, hard work, love & dedication to the league and the game.  Very well done!"

Ron has been on staff with the FPHL since 2019.  He was recently selected to work his first Commissioners Cup Finals and skated game 3 in Binghamton, NY.  He has also worked regularly in the ACHA (D1) since 2010.

The FPHL congratulates Ron Johnson's outstanding on ice work ethics as well as all the hard work the entire on ice officiating staff put into this season.

The FPHL is a Single A Minor Professional hockey league and will be entering its 16th season in the fall of 2025.
