North Carolina Native Cannan Signs with Thunderbirds

Winston-Salem, NC - The Carolina Thunderbirds are proud to announce the signing of Joe Cannan, after being claimed off of waivers on Saturday morning.

Cannan is a native of Charlotte, NC and stands at 6'4" and weighs in at 220 lbs. Prior to turning pro in 2015-16, he played four years of college hockey at Johnson & Wales University Charlotte (ACHA) where he accumulated 53 points and 203 penalty minutes.

During the 2018-19 season, Cannan has appeared in eight games with the Elmira Enforcers. In his FHL career, he has played in 49 games and has racked up 258 penalty minutes.

In a corresponding move the Thunderbirds have released Nick Metcalfe on waivers.

Cannan is expected to be in the lineup tonight against the Watertown Wolves. Puck drop is at 7:30 at the Watertown Municipal Ice Arena.
