PLAYER SAFETY ANNOUNCES FINE & SUSPENSIONS
The FPHL Department of Player Safety has announced the following suspensions.
Monroe Moccasins - Assistant Coach Jay Croop SUSPENDED & Fined an Undisclosed Amount
Mr. Croop after warnings from the officials crossed the line and earned himself a game misconduct. On top of the verbal abuse, he also threw at least one water bottle across the ice. The officials reported that he was not trying to hit them, simply showing his displeasure. I do make a distinction between throwing objects at an official and simply littering the ice. This is the second time in the last 12 months he has been guilty of these two offenses (1/5/25) therefore he is considered a repeat offender. Because he is a repeat offender he will be fined as well as for throwing objects on the ice he will also be fined and suspended for Monroe's next game (Oct 24th). He will not be permitted on or stand anywhere near his player's bench.
Monroe Moccasins - Richie Parent SUSPENDED
Monroe Moccasins - Ben Stefanini SUSPENDED
Monroe Moccasins - Andrew Bellant SUSPENDED
At the end of the game Richie Parent and Ben Stefanini verbally abused the officials to a degree that warranted game misconducts. Because FPHL players cannot be fined, both players are suspended for ONE (1) GAME. As the winning team attempted to retrieve the game puck for their coach's first win #12 Monroe, Andrew Bellant shot the puck into the crowd in direct defiance of the newly enacted rule that forbids this act. Mr. Bellant will be suspended for ONE (1) GAME.
Indiana Sentinels - Kaleb Melanson SUSPENDED
Mr. Melanson deserved to be ejected and his opponents deserved the 5 minute power play however I do not agree with the categorization of his infractions. An instigator penalty can only be called when both players fight and receive major penalties. When only one player fights, that's considered an Aggressor. An aggressor is someone who jumps an opponent who is unaware or unwilling to fight and proceeds to punish him. A match for a sucker punch is normally reserved for a player delivering a punch to the head region of an opponent that comes from the blindside or from the front but without warning. In the case of a player skating 80' directly at a player, dropping his gloves and starting to punch him, I do not view it as a sucker punch. I see this as being the aggressor. This incident was not organic, it was not a result of a dirty play where Mr. Melanson simply decided to retaliate. This was a premeditated act which was probably inspired by something that happened earlier in the game. The fact that it occurred in the last 5 minutes of play (this falls under the same rule as being the instigator in the last 5 minutes) will result in Mr. Melanson being assessed a ONE (1) GAME SUSPENSION. Mr. Melanson was the Aggressor and that also calls for an automatic ONE (1) GAME SUSPENSION. Mr. Melanson is suspended for TWO (2) GAMES Total.
Watertown Wolves - Quinn Chevers SUSPENDED
Mr. Chevers simulated holding a handgun and shooting his opponent after they fought. This is in direct violation of the FPHL Board of Governors Lewd and Inappropriate Gesture policy established at the beginning of the 2024-25 season. This is Mr. Chevers second offense in the past 12 months (10/25/2024) and it calls for an automatic FOUR (4) GAME SUSPENSION. A third offense in a 365 day period will result in a ONE YEAR BAN from the FPHL
