PLAYER SAFETY ANNOUNCES FINES & SUSPENSIONS FOR 12/29/23

From The FPHL Department of Player Safety

Binghamton, NY – The FPHL Department of Player Safety today have announced the following fines and suspension.

Carolina Thunderbirds Crowe, SUSPENDED
Carolina defenseman Braydon Crowe has been suspended for Two games as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 110 in Columbus, GA on Friday, December 29th.  FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, “Mr. Crowe knocked his opponent to the ice and for some unknown reason, decided to whack him with his stick in the face/head area for good measure. This was completely unnecessary, there was no reason for this action. The puck was not coming towards his opponent and he was in a vulnerable position on his knees. I don't think Mr. Crowe intentionally tried to injure his opponent but what he did was extremely reckless and unnecessary. Mr. Crowe will be suspended for TWO (2) GAMES."

Watertown Wolves Leeson, SUSPENDED
Watertown forward Tate Leeson has been suspended for Four games as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 108 in Watertown, NY on Friday, December 29th.  FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, "Fortunately, the player getting tripped was not seriously injured on this play. Mr. Leeson did not accidentally clip skates with his opponent. He positioned his skate between his opponents legs and targeted the back of his left heel. He then made a forward motion with his foot while applying backwards force on his opponent's upper body. This is a slew-foot and an attempt to injure. The match penalty was the correct call. This is Mr. Leeson's THIRD match penalty in just over a month and second for attempt to injure. This is not acceptable behavior for the FPHL and this player needs to modify how he reacts to situations. Mr. Leeson will be suspended for FOUR (4) GAMES"

Danbury Hat Tricks McCreary, FINED
Danbury Head Coach Bill McCreary has been fined an undisclosed amount as a result from his comments made during FPHL Game No.108 in Watertown, NY on Friday, December 29th.

The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 14th season during 2023-24.
