PLAYER SAFETY ANNOUNCES SUSPENSION FOR 12/14/23

From The FPHL Department of Player Safety

Binghamton, NY – The FPHL Department of Player Safety today have announced the following suspensions.

Baton Rouge Zydeco Bazarin, SUSPENDED
Baton Rouge Forward Matthew Bazarin has been suspended for Three Games as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 87 in Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, December 14th.  FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, “This fight was initiated by the Mississippi player who engaged Mr. Bazarin. The ensuing fight was mutually agreed upon and proceeded fine for several seconds until the Mississippi player was overpowered by Mr. Bazarin. At this point, his opponent dropped to his knees and was unable to defend himself. It is imperative that a player in a fight who gains the upper hand and gets his opponent in a vulnerable, defenseless position, must not continue to inflict gratuitous punishment. Mr. Bazarin delivered six additional punches to the back of his opponents head who was down on his knees. This is not acceptable and players engaged in a fight must respect their opponent once they have clearly won the fight. This is Mr. Bazarin's third Aggressor penalty in the last Twelve (12) months. He will be suspended for Three (3) Games."

The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 14th season during 2023-24.
