Player Safety Announces Suspensions

The FPHL Department of Player Safety has announced the following suspensions.

Indiana Sentinels - Niko Reimann  SUSPENDED
Mr. Reimann chased down his opponent, jumped him and delivered a barrage of punches to an unwilling/unexpecting opponent. This is an aggressor and he will be suspended for ONE (1) GAME

Indiana Sentinels - Lester Brown  SUSPENDED
Indiana Sentinels - JD Anderson  SUSPENDED
Mr. Brown and Mr. Anderson jumped over the boards in an attempt to get at Mr. Schmit. Mr. Anderson was immediately restrained by an official and did not cause any further trouble. There were no fighting majors assessed on this scrum or he would be subject to a six game suspension but you cannot leave the bench during an altercation. Mr Anderson is suspended for ONE (1) GAME. Mr. Brown did the same as Mr. Anderson but he also had to be heavily restrained by the officials as he was attempting to get at his opponent and resisted a linesman attempting to perform his duties. Mr. Brown is suspended for TWO (2) GAMES.

Topeka Scarecrows - Justin Schmit  SUSPENDED
Mr. Schmit decided to challenge the opposing bench and had to be forcefully restrained by the officials in order to prevent a full scale brawl. He ignored the officials warnings and physically attempted to resist them. He will be suspended for ONE (1) GAME

Danbury Hat Tricks - Zach Pamaylaon  SUSPENDED
At 10:33 of 2nd period, Mr. Pamaylaon committed 3 grievous offenses at the same stoppage of play. There is no video replay available  nor were the officials able to review the play to confirm their call. Three of the officials witnessed the infractions. Mr Pamaylaon recklessly speared his opponent in the face with a pitch-fork motion that caused him to drop to the ice. He then cross-checked him in the neck/shoulder area causing him to lie prone on the ice and then followed this up with a deliberate spear in the face. Everyone involved is fortunate that no injury resulted from this dangerous and reckless behavior. He is receiving a TWO (2) game suspension for each Match Penalty and ONE (1) Game for the cross checking major for a total of FIVE (5) GAMES.

Danbury Hat Tricks - Jesse Swanson  SUSPENDED
Again, there is very limited video replay available. Mr. Swanson travelled a distance, dropped his gloves and delivered multiple punches to an unwilling or unexpecting opponent. This is his second Aggressor penalty in the last 12 months therefore he will be suspended for TWO (2) Games

Danbury Hat Tricks - Josh Tomasi  SUSPENDED
Port Huron Prowlers - AJ Schlepp  SUSPENDED
Both Mr. Tomasi and Mr. Schlepp took turns throwing punches while their opponent could not defend himself and while the linesmen were engaged. Its very lucky that no one, including the officials got hurt. Both players are suspended for ONE (1) GAME

Monroe Moccasins - Tucker Scantlebury   SUSPENDED
There were no video replays available.   Mr. Scantlebury has been suspended once in the past 12 months for being an Aggressor therefore he is a repeat offender. Mr. Scantlebury is suspended for TWO (2) GAMES

Note: Monroe - Scantlebury Suspension Appealed
Monroe coach provided a partial video showing Scantlebury's opponent initiating their scrum/altercation. Although Scantlebury did resist the linesman and blatantly attempted to continue the altercation once the linesmen intervened, he was not an Aggressor by the letter of the rule because he did not punish his opponent as none of his attempted punches landed.  This underscores the need for better and wider camera angles when these types of multiple scrum situations occur.  This is being recategorized as a Game Misconduct for Continuing the Altercation and reduced to a ONE (1) GAME suspension.  Because it has been recategorized, he is no longer a repeat offender and thus not subject to the additional second game suspension.
