From The FPHL Department of Player Safety
Binghamton, NY – The FPHL Department of Player Safety today have announced the following suspensions.
Motor City Rockers Babin, SUSPENDED
Motor City Goaltender Trevor Babin has been suspended for Three Games as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 117 in Fraser, MI on Sunday, December 31st. FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, “Mr. Babin speared the attacking player in the groin for no apparent reason. The FPHL rules are very clear on this infraction. Any intentional contact to an opponent's groin will result in a match penalty regardless of injury. Mr. Babin will be suspended for ONE (1) GAME for spearing. The attacking player retaliated with a slash that appears to have bounced off of Mr. Babin's goal stick to which Mr. Babin came back with a violent swing at his opponent's head. Fortunately, no injury resulted. Mr. Babin will be suspended for TWO (2) GAMES. TOTAL SUSPENSION: THREE (3) GAMES."
Watertown Wolves Sergeev, SUSPENDED
Watertown Defensemen Ivan Sergeev has been suspended for Two Game as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 119 in Elmira, NY on Sunday, December 31st. FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, "This cross-check was a retaliation to a minor penalty that was being assessed to an Elmira player. The play was stopped and the receiving player had no inkling that he was about to be targeted. I believe that Mr. Sergeev initially delivered a cross check to his opponent's shoulder but it rode up and made head contact. Fortunately, no serious injury resulted. This was an intentional cross check and was reckless and careless. Mr. Sergeev will be suspended for TWO (2) Games."
Columbus River Dragons Moore, SUSPENDED
Columbus Forward Kyle Moore has been suspended for One Game under Supplementary Discipline as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 120 in Winston-Salem, NC on Sunday, December 31st. FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, "I'm not sure how many times that we, as a league are going to have to repeat that "Gestures of a sexual nature or referring to your genitals" will not be tolerated. This is unacceptable and offensive, especially to families in attendance. Mr Moore will be suspended for ONE (1) GAME."
The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 14th season during 2023-24.
