PLAYER SAFETY ANNOUNCES SUSPENSIONS FOR 2/11/24

From The FPHL Department of Player Safety

Binghamton, NY – The FPHL Department of Player Safety today have announced the following suspensions.

Binghamton Black Bears Yates, SUSPENDED
Binghamton forward Gavin Yates has been suspended for Five Games as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 190 in Elmira, NY on Sunday, February 11th.  FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated,
“Mr. Yates was knocked to the ice and his opponent was receiving a minor penalty. After the whistle went, while lying on his back, Mr. Yates kicked his opponent in an aggressive manner contacting him in the upper-thigh area. We are fortunate that no injury resulted. I should not have to remind anyone about how dangerous kicking someone with a skate can be. To be consistent with previous Kicking suspensions this season, FOUR (4) GAMES is the baseline. Mr. Yates is a repeat offender having received a match penalty and two game suspension in December which makes him subject to 50% increase. Mr. Yates will receive a FIVE (5) GAME SUSPENSION (4 gms + 1 gm)."

The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 14th season during 2023-24.
