PLAYER SAFETY ANNOUNCES SUSPENSIONS
The FPHL Department of Player Safety has announced the following suspensions.
Watertown Wolves - Yefim Mishkin SUSPENDED
Although the initial contact was to his opponent's shoulder, Mr. Mishkin took a poor angle of approach, his shoulder ran up his opponent's shoulder pad into the side of his opponent's head. You can clearly see his helmet snap to the right immediately after initial contact. This hit got very little of the torso and was dangerous. Normally a match penalty with an injury would be a four game suspension but I do not feel that there was any maliciousness or intent to injure as with most match penalties. In this case, the rulebook does not allow for a major penalty. It has to be called a match penalty by the officials but I have the latitude to decide if it actually was a Deliberate injury or an Attempt to Injure. I don't believe that was the case here. The player getting hit was spinning and put himself in a bad spot although there needs to be an onus on the player making the hit to realize when his opponent is vulnerable. The Four (4) Game suspension does not apply here but I am still suspending Mr. Mishkin for ONE (1) Game under supplemental discipline
