PLAYER SAFETY ANNOUNCES WEEK 9 SUSPENSIONS REPORT

The FPHL Department of Player Safety has announced the following suspensions from FPHL Week 9.

12/6/25

Monroe Moccasins - Rasmus Asp  SUSPENDED
As I explained at length last weekend, there is a material difference between a 'Slew-foot' and tripping someone with your foot/leg. Both can be match penalties but not every trip with the foot/leg is a slew-foot. For an infraction to be called slew-footing, there needs to be some pressure applied to the upper body/ chest area and a forceful push or pull in conjunction with sweeping the feet from behind. If a player simply sticks his leg out from behind, this is tripping. It can be a 2 min minor or a Match penalty. The reason I'm making this distinction is that all too often, a minor penalty for tripping is all that's deserved but teams will complain that their player was slew-footed and expect a 5 min PP.
Having said all that, I believe that Mr. Asp's trip on his opponent last night is worthy of a match penalty. I cannot, with certainty say that he was attempting to injure his opponent but his actions were careless and reckless. His opponent was injured on the play and did not return. Mr. Asp is suspended for TWO (2) GAMES

Biloxi Breakers - AJ Schlepp  SUSPENDED
There is no video of this incident therefore I am basing my ruling off the written and verbal report of the on-ice officials. After multiple conversations it was determined that Mr. Schlepp's actions did not rise to the level of attempting to injure with a spear. His actions were along the lines of a one-handed poke but the fact that he was delivering them from the player's bench makes his actions more egregious. This is an example of where the double-minor penalty for spearing can be applied in conjunction with a game misconduct for inciting since he was on his player's bench. I am reducing the match penalty to a game misconduct. Mr. Schlepp is suspended for ONE (1) GAME

Note:  12/5/25 Blue Ridge Bobcats - Carson Gallagher
An instigator penalty was assessed along with an automatic game misconduct because it was the last 5 minutes of the hockey game. There will be no further discipline as suspensions are reserved for instigators who are seeking retribution or a settling of scores for something earlier in the game. In Mr. Gallagher's case, this fight happened organically as a result of the cross check and a suspension is not deserved.
