Prowlers Dominate Ice Breakers

By Brady Beedon

Port Huron, MI - It was a night of quality vs. quantity when the Port Huron Prowlers defeated the Mentor Ice Breakers, 6-1 on Friday -- Despite being outshot, 54-37. Cory Simons stood on his head, stopping 53 of Mentor's 54 shots en route to the victory.

Paul Arnott opened up the scoring for the Prowlers at 10:40 into the first period, beating Ice Breakers goalie Derek Moser blocker side.

The Prowlers would extend their lead 54 seconds into the second period with a Zach Zulkanycz goal. Mentor would get their lone goal of the night at 3:20 into the frame when Brett Oldaker found the back of the net. It was all Port Huron after that. Dalton Jay scored his first goal of the night at 8:06 while short handed, prompting Mentor to switch goalies.

An Austin Fetterly goal, along with two more from Jay would push the final score to 6-1 in favor of the Prowlers.

The Prowlers will head to Mentor for game two of the three-game weekend series before returning home for a Sunday afternoon game against the Ice Breakers.
