Prowlers' Home Opener Spoiled by Elmira's First Win
By DJ Palm
Port Huron, MI - The Elmira Enforcers are winless no more, as they recorded their first victory of the season against the Port Huron Prowlers Friday night.
Elmira came out firing in the first period. Glen Patterson would break the ice on a power play goal, and Sean Reynolds would score only minutes later at 9:02. Kyle Stevens would make it 3-0 shortly after, and that score would hold to end the first period. Cal Miska and Dale Deon would get assists on the first and third goals.
An ugly start for Port Huron motivated the Prowlers to come out swinging in the middle frame. Matyas Kasek would score just 46 seconds into the second with an assist from Mike Baker. Elmira's lead was cut to one with a shorthanded goal from Matt Graham roughly seven minutes later. However, Sean Reynolds netted his second goal of the game moments after to make it 4-2 going into the intermission.
Dmytro Babenko would score early in the third to make it a three goal deficit. The Prowlers would try to muster a comeback with Dalton Jay firing back at 6:36, but Elmira wouldn't let up, as Cal Miska sealed the game with a 6-3 final.
Both teams face off again tomorrow night at 7:00 PM in Port Huron.
