Prowlers Re-Sign Defenseman Alex Johnson

Port Huron, MI - The Port Huron Prowlers are proud to announce they have re-signed Watertown, SD native, Alex Johnson for the 2018-2019 season.

A 3 year veteran in the Federal Hockey League, Johnson started his professional career with the Brewster Bulldogs. In 56 games, he scored 22 goals and added 15 assists. The following year, he tallied 7 goals and 7 assists in 24 games with the Danbury Titans until his season was cut short by a season ending shoulder injury.

Last year with the Prowlers, Johnson started slow, coming off shoulder surgery, but really found his groove after the Christmas holiday, scoring some big goals down the stretch. He finished the season with 7 goals and 17 assists, with a +32 rating. In the playoffs, he added 2 goals and 2 assists in 6 games, with a +4 rating. Head Coach Joe Pace, Jr. said: "We look to him building off that late season success and should be a big part of our core defensive group."

Johnson adds, “Last year was an amazing year of hockey, from the record breaking season we had, to all the great teammates and memories we were able to make together. As a team, we definitely have unfinished business to take care of after the way our season ended. I'm ready to get back to Port Huron and make sure we don’t come up short again this year.”

The 2017-2018 Regular Season Champion Port Huron Prowlers will open up the season on the road in Winston-Salem when they take on the Carolina Thunderbirds.
