PROWLERS REBOUND FOR 6-2 WIN OVER BLACK BEARS

BINGHAMTON – The Port Huron Prowlers scored four goals in the third period in a 6-2 victory over the Binghamton Black Bears inside Visions Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday night.
 
Just 4:35 into the game, Sam Holeczy forced a turnover on the side of the net and fed Nikita Ivashkin for his 11th goal of the year to give Binghamton a 1-0 lead. The goal was Ivashkin’s fourth of the weekend and Holeczy collected his fourth point in two games with the assist.
 
Late in the first period, Port Huron tied the game at one. Zachary Fresura moved down the left side and sent a wrist shot by goaltender Joe Sheppard. The goal was Fresura’s second of the year with the lone assist going to Cade Lambdin at 18:37 of the first period and the game was tied after one.
 
Austin Fetterly took a pass from Alex Johnson and fired a shot over the right shoulder of Sheppard to give the Prowlers a 2-1 lead. The goal came on the power play at 7:08 of the second period with assists from Johnson and Matt Graham.
 
The Black Bears responded with 2:42 left in the second frame as Geno DeAngelo tipped in his third of the year. Jens Petersen sent the puck towards the net and DeAngelo snuck behind the defense and tipped the puck over the shoulder of goaltender Cory Simons to tie the game at two. Assists were given to Egor Nosov and Petersen and the game was tied at two heading into the third period.
 
Binghamton got into penalty trouble in the third period and Johnson scored to give the Prowlers the lead with the eventual game winner. Fetterly and Graham set up Johnson at the hash marks and he beat Sheppard on the blocker side at 5:09 of the third for a 3-2 lead.
 
Isaiah Crawford cashed in on a three-on-one rush 12:35 into the third period to give the Prowlers a 4-2 lead. Graham and Lambdin added goals late in regulation to seal the 6-2 win over Binghamton.
