Prowlers Stymied by Kaludis
By Dennis Stuckey
Port Huron, MI - Matt Kaludis made 51 saves on Wednesday night to help the Danville Dashers to a 4-2 win over the Port Huron Prowlers. The victory ended an 11 game winning streak by Port Huron in head-to-head play with Danville going back to last season.
Alex Johnson scored the only goal of the first period, giving the Prowlers their only lead of the game.
The Dashers opened the second with a three goal barrage in the first 5:25 of play. The FHL's leading scorer Ryan Marker sandwiched two goals around a Stephen Gaul goal to put Danville up, 3-1. Austin Daae cut it to 3-2 with a goal at 15:51 of the frame, but Gaul responded late in the period with his second goal, to make it 4-2 after forty minutes.
Port Huron pumped 16 shots in the third period but had no luck against Kaludis, who then earned an assist on a Marker empty net goal, completing his hat trick and making the final score 5-2 for the Dashers.
Port Huron travels to Elmira for two games this weekend and will not return to McMorran Arena for a game again until December 14th, when the Mentor Ice Breakers visit the Blue Water Area.
