Prowlers Widen Standings Gap with Win Over Dashers
By DJ Palm
Port Huron, MI - A four-point night for Artur Drindrozhik sealed a win for the Port Huron Prowlers on Friday night. The victory extended their lead over the Danville Dashers to 10 points in the standings.
First period ended deadlocked at 1. Matyas Kasek got the Prowlers on the board first at 12:24. Danville got the equalizer a little over four minutes later from a turnover in their zone. Daniel Martin was credited with the tip in from a Dustin Henning blue line wrister to tie the game.
Fred Hein got the lead for the Dashers at 17 seconds into the middle frame with a clapper from the near circle, whizzing by Simons. It took the Prowlers over nine minutes and a man advantage to respond when Matt Robertson cashed in on the power play. The teams would head into the second intermission tied at 2.
Shea Carey regained a one goal lead for the Prowlers just under two minutes into the third period. This was followed by Kasek's second goal of the night to give Port Huron a 4-2 lead. Danville did not go quietly, as Eric Masters helped cut the lead to one goal at 12:16. The Dashers' comeback effort fell short when Drindrozhik tallied an empty net goal from center ice to put Port Huron back up by two goals in the final minute of the game.
The Dashers stay in town to take on the Prowlers again tomorrow night from McMorran Arena. Puck will drop at 7:00 PM and the game stream will be live on Ebw.tv.
