Prowlers Win Weekend Series

By DJ Palm

Port Huron, MI - The Port Huron Prowlers kept their 4th place spot in FHL standings with a 7-2 victory over the Mentor Ice Breakers on Sunday afternoon.

Matt Robertson started the scoring less than three minutes into the game with the lone goal of the first period. 17 of Cory Simons' 41 saves came in the first 20 minutes.

Declan Conway tied the game at 1 just under nine minutes into the middle frame. Port Huron's offense took over from there, and four unanswered goals in five minutes put the Prowlers on top, 5-1. Robertson scored two of those goals to complete his hat trick, while Dalton Jay and Artur Drindrozhik had a goal apiece.

Tom Kilgore netted two more goals around the midway mark of the third period and ultimately put the game out of reach for an Ice Breakers comeback.

With the victory, the Prowlers retain their 4th place spot and earned 6 of 9 possible points for the weekend.

The Ice Breakers will head back home to host a weekend series with Carolina. The Prowlers are home next weekend and welcome Danville to town on Friday and Saturday, and Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
