Thunderbirds Sign WSSU Pitcher to Celebrity Contract

Winston-Salem, NC - The Carolina Thunderbirds are excited to announce the signing of Tomas Goco to a celebrity contract. Goco is a junior at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) and a left-handed relief pitcher for the WSSU Rams baseball team, and will suit up for the Thunderbirds for one game on November 30th vs. the Port Huron Prowlers.

Goco is a native of Clemmons, NC and graduated from West Forsyth High School, just outside of Winston-Salem. He stands at 6'8" and 265 lbs, and posted a 2-1 record with one save in 35.1 innings last year over 21 appearances.

Team President and GM Scott Brand commented on this signing: "We are very excited to have Tomas joining our team for this game. Besides him being a very talented baseball player, he grew up playing hockey in the Triad, so he can show off his skills in front of friends and family. This is a great night [Nov. 30] for Winston Salem State University Baseball also. We have provided their fans with a ticket link and hope to raise money for their club. The WSSU baseball club is one of the best in the southeast and I would encourage all fans to support Rams baseball."

Fans can come to see Goco play with a special ticket rate for the November 30th game by clicking here. All tickets using this link are discounted for fans and proceeds from the tickets bought this way will go to support the WSSU baseball team.

Goco will practice with the team at his discretion starting November 25th.
