Thunderbirds Trade Brzek to Ice Breakers

Winston-Salem, NC - The Carolina Thunderbirds have announced a trade completed today that will send the rights of camp invite Dominik Brzek to the Mentor Ice Breakers. The Thunderbirds are receiving future considerations from Mentor.

Brzek, 20, is a native of the Czech Republic, and most recently played four games in the Czech3 league with HC Draci Bilina, registering three assists. Last season he played for the Coldwater Ice Wolves of the Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League (CJPHL) and registered 63 points (28G-35A) in 42 games.

Head Coach Andre Niec commented on the roster move: “Dominik is a very good player, but we got some players in from the SPHL and our camp got full. Mentor needed a strong d-man and it was a deal that could be worked. When camp gets full like this year’s, decisions must be made. We wish Dominik the best of luck this season.”

The Carolina Thunderbirds are proud members of the Federal Hockey League, now in its ninth season. Carolina will be starting its second season of play, looking to build on the success of its inaugural season where the Thunderbirds posted an 87-point season with a record of 25-24-5-2 (W-L-OTW-OTL). The Thunderbirds also set an FHL record with over 65,000 fans through the doors in their first season and six sellout crowds. Season and group tickets are on sale now by calling (336) 774-GOAL(4625).
