Thunderbirds Trade Walters to Enforcers
Winston-Salem, NC - The Carolina Thunderbirds have announced a trade today that will send defenseman Jacob (JT) Walters to the Elmira Enforcers for future considerations.
"Unfortunately we had to make a decision with how crowded our defense situation was getting." Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Andre Niec said. "Elmira has a lot of promising assets that we might want to look at later in the season to help us in a pinch, so that's why the deal was made. We wish JT all the best in Elmira." The Thunderbirds were able to put defensemen Seth Gustin and Jay Kenney into the lineup last weekend, meaning the Thunderbirds have dressed eight different defensemen early in the 2018-19 campaign.
Walters played in four games for the Thunderbirds this season, racking up one assist and 11 penalty minutes. Walters joined the Thunderbirds late in training camp after playing two games with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). The San Diego, CA native joins an Elmira squad that is still looking for its first win as an FHL franchise.
