Timofeyev has Five-Point Night for Enforcers

By DJ Palm

Port Huron, MI - The Elmira Enforcers picked up right where they left off on Saturday night and defeated the Port Huron Prowlers, 8-3 to complete the weekend sweep on the road.

Ahmed Mahfouz scored the first two goals of his hat trick night at 1:19 and 5:11 into the first period. Stepan Timofeyev assisted on the second marker and then added a goal a little over three minutes later to put Elmira up, 3-0 going into the first intermission.

This time the Prowlers couldn't find a way to come back, as the Enforcers scored three more unanswered goals. Glen Patterson picked up his second goal of the weekend, only 37 seconds into the middle frame. Brendan Hussey would score just before the ten minute mark, giving him four goals on the road trip. And Stepan Timofeyev added more insurance at 11:10, extending the Elmira lead to 6-0. Port Huron finally got on the scoreboard with Matt Robertson cashing in from Dalton Jay at 13:57. Both Prowler skaters would be the only two on the roster with multi-point nights. Zachary Zulkanycz gave the Prowlers a glimmer of hope when he found the back of the net with less than twenty seconds left in the period.

Elmira would further extend their lead in the third period when Mahfouz capped off his hat trick four to make it an 8-2 contest. Dalton Jay would add a goal for the Prowlers at 14:52, but the final score would ultimately be 8-3, in favor of the Enforcers.

Port Huron was outscored 15-6 on the weekend at home.

The Enforcers head back home next weekend to host Watertown, who has the two league leaders in goals and points. The Prowlers will hit the road and travel to Danville. Both teams are battling for the last playoff spot as the season starts winding down.
